| SPACE DINER
This is a submission project sent to known publishers nationwide, below is a 10-page sample.
SYNOPSIS: Our main character, Nat Sammich, is lost in space (although not in the sci-fi tv series sort of way). He's still trying to figure out what he wants out of his life, kind of in a limbo. He works in a space diner that orbits an exotic planet called Mor-Padd, he caters to all the space truckers, tourists and nomads who travel in and out of the solar system. One starry evening (to be fair though, it's always a starry evening at the Space Diner), a gorgeous brunette named Rutabega Jane walks in for a quick bite, but due to a hilarious incident in the diner she stays a bit longer than planned. Nat and Jane mix from this incident, and after Nat fights off some hoodlums looking for trouble in the diner, he escorts her to Mor-Padd. When Nat finishes his next shift at work he returns home to find Rutabega Jane dead inside his apartment in space; a whole in her chest with Nat's blaster still smoking in front of her! With this, Nat sets off on a cross-galactic journey to find out who this girl really was, why she was killed and why Nat was set up for the frame. Joining Nat is a ragtag crew of aliens who help Nat through this mystery and also with politics on a foreign planet.
It's kind of a mix between Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Mickey Spillane crime.
